Acacia Church Lead Pastor in Ashburn, VA

 

I was born at very early age in the great state of Indiana, U.S.A. I was blessed to have parents who loved Jesus and taught us as children to love Him as well. I asked Jesus to be my Savior when I was nine years old. We attended Cherrydale Baptist Church in Arlington, VA where I got involved in the youth group.

 

It was then that my heart for ministry had it’s beginning. I attended Huntington College and continued to enjoy ministry opportunities there and I began working with Campus Life, a ministry of Youth for Christ that works with high school students.

 

I almost went on staff with Campus Life but decided to return home upon graduation to spend time with my brother who had just started a walk with Christ.

 

Shortly after coming home and beginning to work with the student ministry at Cherrydale, I started to notice my younger sister’s best friend had grown up and become quite lovely and had a wonderful relationship with Jesus.  Cindy and were married in 1983.  We were blessed with a beautiful baby girl we named Charis in 1993.  We then had the wonderful privilege of adopting our second daughter, Anna from China in 2003.  A nephew lived with us for 10 years and Cody became our “nephson” part nephew, part son.

 

I went on staff at Cherrydale as a youth minister in 1983 and also started my seminary studies at Capital Bible Seminary.  I was privileged to work under and be mentored by Steve King, the lead pastor of Cherrydale.

 

In 1994 Steve asked me to pray about being the lead pastor on a team to plant a church in the Ashburn area of Virginia.  After much prayer, counsel, and discernment, Christ Community Church had its first service on October 29, 1995.

 

In 2022, in a post covid reality, the Lord led Christ Community Church to blend with Cross Current Church.  I was co-pastoring with their pastor until he left to work for a nonprofit organization.  We changed the name of the church to: Acacia Church.

I have the privilege of serving as the lead pastor of Acacia.
