VCG SONG: Thirty Pieces & a Kiss
BY VCG 8/1/2026
This combines all three angles:
Judas as a tragic warning, betrayal and greed fiercely confronted, and Peter’s failure contrasted with repentance and restoration.
The musical approach uses only broad arena-hard-rock DNA—dark riffs, tense verses, explosive hook, dramatic breakdown, and a final choir-sized lift—with a wholly original melody and arrangement.
Song Information
Title: Thirty Pieces & a Kiss
Artist Credit: MUSAIC COLLECTIVE feat. VCG
Theme: Judas Iscariot as a warning against hidden greed, calculated betrayal, hardened despair, and the danger of standing near Christ without truly surrendering; contrasted with Peter’s sorrow, repentance, and restoration.
Genre Fusion: Arena hard rock, modern heavy metal, cinematic gospel rock
STYLE
Dark arena hard rock fused with modern heavy metal and cinematic gospel rock. Drop-tuned distorted guitars, ominous bass pulse, massive live drums, tense palm-muted verses, melodic pre-chorus, explosive stadium chorus, dramatic stops, silver-coin sound effects, low choir textures, and a mournful clean-guitar breakdown. Powerful gritty male lead, controlled rasp, clear diction, layered gang vocals, spoken biblical lines, and rising gospel harmonies in the final chorus. Begin shadowy and restrained, grow heavier through each verse, strip down for the Judas–Peter contrast, then erupt into a triumphant warning finale. Polished production, wholly original melody and arrangement, no artist references.
LYRICS
[Intro — low heartbeat, distant silver coins, distorted guitar rising]
[Spoken Voice]
He walked beside the Truth—
And still chose the price.
[Verse 1]
You heard the words that raised the dead,
You watched the blind receive their sight.
You sat beside the Bread of Life,
Yet fed a hunger in the night.
You held the bag, you named the poor,
But something colder held your hand.
A secret appetite grew teeth
While mercy walked across the land.
Twelve were called to preach the kingdom,
Twelve were sent beneath his name.
Nearness never means surrender
When the heart still loves its chains.
[Pre-Chorus]
The silver starts so small—
A thought you will not fight.
Then compromise becomes a road,
And every step becomes the night.
[Chorus]
Thirty pieces and a kiss—
Was the Holy One worth this?
You traded blood that had no stain
For coins that could not heal your pain.
Thirty pieces hit the floor,
But you could not close that door.
The warning still is burning bright:
Do not walk beside the Light
While making bargains with the night!
[Verse 2 — heavier riff]
“What will ye give me?” formed the deal.
The priests were glad to name the sum.
You watched and waited for the hour,
Then led the armed accusers on.
Not with a blade raised in the air,
Not with the hatred of a shout—
You chose the sign of close affection
To mark the Saviour singled out.
A greeting wrapped around a treason,
A friend’s embrace with death beneath.
The darkest wound was not the silver—
It was betrayal wearing peace.
[Pre-Chorus]
The garden held its breath.
The torches split the mist.
Then Jesus asked the question:
“Betrayest thou
The Son of man
With a kiss?”
[Chorus]
Thirty pieces and a kiss—
Was the Holy One worth this?
You traded blood that had no stain
For coins that could not heal your pain.
Thirty pieces hit the floor,
But you could not close that door.
The warning still is burning bright:
Do not walk beside the Light
While making bargains with the night!
[Verse 3 — restrained, mournful]
When judgment fell upon the Innocent,
The silver burned inside your grip.
“I have sinned,” you told the rulers,
But they left you with the guilt.
You cast the payment in the temple.
You knew the blood was innocent.
But grief without a road to mercy
Turned remorse toward a bitter end.
[Lead]
Sin will tell you, “There is no returning.”
Shame will say, “You cannot be restored.”
But despair is not the voice of mercy,
And death is not the open door.
[Breakdown — drums stop, lone guitar]
[Spoken Voice]
Two disciples failed that night.
One sold him.
One denied him.
[Heavy drums return]
[Verse 4 — Peter contrast]
Peter swore he did not know him.
Then the morning rooster cried.
Jesus turned and looked upon him;
Peter left and bitterly cried.
But after death had lost its victory,
Christ met Peter by the sea.
Three times love answered three denials:
“Feed my lambs.”
“Feed my sheep.”
“Follow me.”
[Build — gang vocals]
[Lead]
Failure is not final—
[Group]
When you turn to Christ!
[Lead]
Shame need not become your master—
[Group]
Run into the Light!
[Lead]
Do not sell what cannot be bought!
[Group]
Do not hide what must be brought!
[All]
Bring the guilty heart to Jesus—
Mercy paid the greater cost!
[Final Chorus — full arena lift]
Thirty pieces and a kiss—
Hear the warning written in this:
You can stand where wonders blaze
And still let greed corrupt your ways.
Thirty pieces cannot save.
Hidden sin becomes a grave.
But while the call of mercy sounds,
Turn before the darkness closes down!
Do not walk beside the Light
While making bargains with the night!
[Final Refrain — choir and heavy guitars]
No silver can redeem you.
No sorrow can atone.
But Christ receives the broken
Who come to him alone.
Peter fell—
Peter wept—
Peter heard the Shepherd call.
Judas stands a warning:
Guard your heart,
Confess your sin,
And do not trade the Lord of all!
[Outro — coins fall, then silence]
[Spoken Voice]
“What shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
The song follows the biblical record closely:
Judas sought payment and accepted thirty pieces of silver, identified Jesus through a kiss, later confessed that he had betrayed innocent blood, returned the silver, and hanged himself.
The Peter contrast is deliberate:
Peter also failed grievously and wept bitterly, but the risen Christ later recommissioned him with “Feed my sheep” and “Follow me.”
